Message from Andreu Mas-Colell
It is my pleasure to introduce "The Catalan Economy", an on-line newsletter which purpose is to make available to the European and world communities news, factual accounts, analysis, reports and opinions on fiscal, financial and economic matters concerning Catalonia. The standpoint is that of the Government of Catalonia.
The publication will be quarterly. In this first issue you will find a report on the fiscal consolidation process of Catalonia for the period 2010-2014, an analysis of the thorny issue of the distribution of deficit objectives between the Central Administration and the Autonomous Communities of Spain, a study on purchasing power parities across autonomous communities and a communication on economic growth forecasts. We conclude, as we will always do, with some indicators on the evolution of the Catalan economy.
