There are 24 fewer lists than in the election held in 2012
The Ministry of Governance and Institutional Relations has published the officially announced 40 lists that are to stand in the election for the Parliament of Catalonia on 27 September. This information has been published today, Tuesday 1 September, in the Official Journal of the Government of Catalonia (DOGC). There are 9 lists standing in Barcelona province, 11 in Girona province, 10 in Lleida province and 10 in Tarragona province.
Three of the lists initially put forward have not been accepted. They are Guanyem Catalunya - Ganemos in Barcelona province, Escons en Blanc in Girona province and Pirates de Catalunya - Per decidir-ho tot in Lleida province.
Thus the provincial electoral commissions have announced 24 lists fewer than in the election for the Parliament of Catalonia in 2012, when there were 64. In Barcelona province the number of lists is down from 16 in 2012 to 9 for this election, in Girona province from 16 to 11, and in Lleida and Tarragona provinces from 16 to 10.
Deadline for filing appeals
Under the electoral calendar excluded lists can lodge an appeal against their exclusion with the competent judicial authority on 2 and 3 September. The ruling on the appeal will be given by 5 September. If need be the lists can then file for protection of constitutional rights with the Constitutional Court which will give its ruling between 4 and 10 September.
