The Central Electoral Board has agreed to further extend the deadline to enable electors in Spain to send their ballot papers in time. At the request of the PP (People’s Party), the Central Electoral Board has decided to extend the deadline, previously set for 18 December, to 2.00 pm on Tuesday, 19 December. As a result, electors may cast their vote during the opening times of the Spanish Postal Services offices (Correos) until 2.00 pm at the latest.

It must be borne in mind that the Postal Services branches in small villages may be open to the public for fewer hours and could close before 2.00 pm. Therefore, it will be necessary to previously check the opening times of the Postal Services branch where the ballot will be cast.

The Central Electoral Board claims that the period for voting by post has been extended in view of the delay in sending certain electoral documentation due to the appeals lodged against the candidates standing for election, and the fact that the postal vote deadline was just after the weekend. At the end of November, the Central Electoral Board decided to extend the period for the first time as the initial deadline, 17 December, was a Sunday.
