The Catalan Economy
Issue Number 01
It is my pleasure to introduce "The Catalan Economy", an on-line newsletter which purpose is to make available to the European and world communities, news, factual accounts, analysis, reports and opinions on fiscal, financial and economic matters concerning Catalonia. The standpoint is that of the Government of Catalonia.
Catalonia reduced its deficit by 43% between 2010 and 2014
The Government of Catalonia is fully committed to the fiscal stability objective. Between 2010 and 2014, the Generalitat reduced its deficit by 43%, from 4.48% of GDP in 2010 to 2.58% in 2014.
Unfair distribution of deficit targets among Public Administrations
The deficit targets that the Spanish Government has assigned to the various levels of administration entail an unfair and biased distribution of the burden among the administrations.
Study on the purchasing power parities across Spanish Autonomous Communities
A study commissioned by the ministry of Economy and Knowledge to Catalan university researchers reveals differences in the cost of living across Spanish territories for up to 34%.
Catalonia increases its economic growth forecast to 3.2% for 2015
In parallel with the economic recovery, job creation continues to grow, and it is estimated that the net full-time job creation will be 3% in 2015 and 2.6% in 2016.
