This percentage is almost half a point down (0.41%) on the level of participation registered at the same time in the 2015 elections.

Election day 2017 has got off to a normal start at the 2,680 polling stations where voting will take place to elect the new Parliament of Catalonia.
A total of 5,554,394 people are called upon to participate in the elections to be held this Thursday. Requests from overseas voters are up 81.53%, while postal voting within the country is down 26.6% on the 2015 elections.

A total of 5,554,394 citizens will be able to vote in the election for the Parlament de Catalunya on 21 December
Voters may exercise their right to vote in 8,247 polling stations distributed across 2,680 electoral premises. Applications to vote from abroad have increased by 81.53% with respect to the 2015 election. On Friday 22 December, details of the results for each polling station will be published on the website resultats.parlament2017.cat.

The 21D elections App for mobile devices ('Eleccions 21D') will enable citizens to follow the parliamentary elections in real time
Users will be able to consult the voter turnout data and the candidates’ results, as well as compare them with the elections held in 2102 and 2015 and select the options for achieving majorities in parliament. During the latest elections held in 2015 this was the most downloaded App of those ever published by the Generalitat, with downloads in 133 countries.

The Central Electoral Board grants a further two days for voting in person abroad
Spanish voters who reside permanently abroad (CERA) may exercise their right to vote in the consulates and consular offices until the same day of the 21D elections. The Central Electoral Board has likewise extended the initial deadline of 16 December to 20 December for people voting by post from abroad. The provincial electoral boards will have to receive all the envelopes containing the ballot papers by 8.00 am on Sunday, 24 December.

Tomorrow is the deadline for online accreditations for the information broadcasting centre of the 21D elections
Media that have failed to register after this date may do so in person in Pavilion 8 of Fira de Barcelona (Gran Via venue) on 20 and 21 December. The period for collecting accreditations and setting up audio-visual means has been extended to Tuesday, 19 December.
