The Llobregat desalination plant, which is the largest in Europe for urban supply, will permit an increase in the guarantee and availability of water in the metropolitan area of Barcelona and the regions of Penedès, Baix Llobregat, Anoia, Garraf, Barcelonès, els dos Vallesos and el Maresme. It will be capable of producing up to 60 hm³/year (200 million litres of water per day). This supply will represent nearly 24% of the city's water consumption.

• It will deliver water to 4.5 million inhabitants.
• The total budget is 230 million euros.
• This infrastructure will enable the Ter Llobregat system to not depend exclusively on water from reservoirs.
• Its launch will permit the recovery of the Ter water level.
