Brine management
The brine produced during the desalination process will be returned to the sea mixed with the water from the Baix Llobregat water treatment plant. Its salinity will be similar to that of seawater.
This mixture will leave through the underwater pipes of the water treatment plant, and will be deposited 3 kilometres out to sea, at a depth of 60 metres, thus avoiding any impact on the marine environment.
In the last 600 metres of the pipeline, at a distance of every 50 metres, there is an output with four openings, making a total of 52 outputs.
